Is the Chinese car industry learning to rationalise?
Absolutely. In order to attack world markets, China’s government and its largest automotive players have been getting cute. There’s a rush to merge or combine in order to compete in international markets.
I have owned some cars that are generally considered to be horrible. Actually, here's the whole list of cars that I've owned in order, with the last four being cars that I currently own, or in the case of the Willys, co-own :

VW already competes in Formula Three
But we’re hearing reports that VW is considering going in to Formula 1 which – with manufacturer teams leaving willy-nilly – does perhaps seem a bit odd. And VW has no F1 history to speak of. Yes, Auto Union did participate in Grands Prix pre-war, Porsche had a very minor bash decades ago and Lamborghini has offered up a few engines for other teams.
